Chicago

I told Tyler today that I was going to Chicago this afternoon and just Daddy would be home. He said, "oh Chicago is where mostly all the girls live." Hmmmm? I think because I am the one who always goes to Chicago, Mike's friends never have a "boy" weekend there, that Chicago is full of girls. Works for me!

Never give your keys to a one year old...

Mike and I are really hoping that somebody doesn't call Child Protective Services . After shopping at Target, I began buckling Austin into his car seat. He began moaning (pointing and moaning is his only form of communication at this point) and pointing at my keys, so I let him hold them while I put the purchases in the back. Well, after I shut the back door and went to get my keys back, Austin had apparently pushed one of the buttons on the remote, which locked all of the doors. Through the window I could see that he was still holding the keys with a big smile on his face. Panic struck. I began asking Austin to "push the button." He thought it was all a big game, got excited, and began flailing his arms. Shortly after the flailing began I saw the keys fly out of his hands and land on the floor. I ran into Target (of course cell phone is locked in car with crying baby) and told the service desk people to call a locksmith or the police. Luckily, it was a warm 40 degrees outside so I wasn't too worried he would freeze. When I got back to the car he was crying and all upset. He really didn't calm down the entire time. It took a good 20 minutes for the police to arrive and another 10 minutes for the kind officer to unlock the door. I just had to watch through the window while the big, fat tears rolled down his cheeks. Austin was just fine after being released from the clutches of his seat belt for a hug. A lesson was learned about giving the keys to a little one while in the car.
Anyway, here are some pics of the kids.

Another season...

Well, it's another season for the Bad News Bears, I mean the Orange team. They try so hard, and Tyler is really getting better every time. If only he would run, instead of skip across the field...

Bowling for Tyler

Tyler went bowling last Saturday for his buddy Aiden's birthday. He wanted to throw the bowling ball like a baseball. I was so scared the floor was going to crack. A great time was had by all.

Check out the form!

Had to include a shot of the cute, little bowling shoes

Just waiting for the ball to come back

He tried to will the ball to go the right way with his body- it didn't work

Today I took the kids to the indoor waterpark for church playgroup. Tyler ran around the whole time (of course) and tattled on other kids. He had a great time. Austin was a little unsure. He liked it, but didn't love it. He's been especially clingy lately, so I just let him cling away. The kicker came when we were getting ready to leave. Tyler had stored his dry pants where any other 4 year old kid would- the shower floor. It's not like there were no other places to put dry clothes, like a bench or one of the 300 lockers. No, Tyler decided the shower floor was the perfect place. So, it's 20 degrees outside and Tyler has no dry pants (the pants were wetter than his swimsuit). Luckily, my friend Harmony had some of her son's pajama pants in her bag. Thank you for bailing my son out Harmony!

Happy Valentines Day

These two really do love each other. Tyler was telling his pre-school teacher the other day that he just wanted to go home and play with his cute, cute brother. He said he couldn't stay at pre-school because he missed his brother so much.

Blog I had to stop everything for...

A little while ago I was surfing the web for children's photographers. I found the blog of an Australian photographer who lost her little girl. It is one of the most moving things I've ever read. If you have nine boxes of tissue and a while lotta time go to sheyerosemeyer.blogspot.com If you can go back and start at Feb. 2007. It really makes you think (and cry a lot).

New Haircut

I came home from the gym to find long locks of curly, fuzzy blonde hair all over my kitchen. Mike had cut Austin's hair. I was a little upset at first because I thought it made Austin look too grown up. Here is a BEFORE shot taken last Sunday

And the after. I decided after gelling it, that he looked pretty darn cute!

So sick

In the middle of the night last night Tyler threw up. This is only the 2nd time in his life he's done that. So, no pre-school today. About 9:15 he rolled out of bed and asked if his friend Aiden could still come over. I told him he had to rest today instead of play. Mike called to see how he was doing. He told Tyler to relax, watch Transformers all day and have Mommy take care of him. Tyler seems to feel just fine, but keeps reminding me (in a pitiful voice) that he is so sick. If I ask him to do anything he says, "Daddy told me to watch TV all day and relax." He is taking this business of being sick very serious.

Who's booster seat is that??

Tyler had a friend over the other night. He has a little bit of hero worship for this friend because this friend is a very grown up six years old. They went to the table to eat and as Tyler was pulling out his chair he realized that his booster seat was there. This was a disaster in Tyler's mind and the wheels were turning mighty quick. All of the sudden, he throws the booster seat and yells, "Who's booster seat is this? This is not mine. Boosters are for babies."Luckily, his friend did not catch on. Later that night as I was putting Tyler in bed I asked if he wanted to get rids of the offensive booster seat. "No way, I just didn't want Connor to think I was a baby. I like it."

Austin's newest trick (it's about time)

Mike got to use his favorite toy today

It snowed about 6 inches last night. Tyler woke up this morning and couldn't find Mike anywhere, but his truck was still here. Mike had snuck out of bed to snowblow. He was over at the neighbors while Tyler was frantically looking for him. Tyler's pre-school was cancelled, so we had a nice, quiet morning.

Austin wants to go out and play, but not Mommy

Tyler was excited pre-school was cancelled
